RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE

Major Days of Religious Observance
University policy and Massachusetts state law require faculty to offer makeup assignments or exams to students who are absent for religious observance. As an aid to curriculum planning, the following list of major religious observances is made available by the Office of the Provost. Faculty, staff and students are advised that the list is not exhaustive of observances of any religion. Jewish, Baha'i, and some Islamic religious observances begin at sundown of the previous day. Students planning to be absent from classes due to religious observance must notify their instructors at least one week in advance, and otherwise follow the policy stated in the General Catalog online through the Registrar's office.
