Vision/Goals TAC Project participants (coordinators course instructors, university faculty from the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the College of Arts and Science, and in-service consultants) supporting the Technology in the Arts Classroom project share a common vision of training a cadre of technologically literate teachers skilled in designing innovative, technology-based, art and interdisciplinary curricula. The course will address state educational frameworks by using authentic assessment strategies and effective research-driven practices. The mission of this inter-institutional course/project is two-fold: 1. To foster innovation in arts curriculum design by strengthening pre-service and in-service teachers abilities to design and implement creative, effective, technology-based curricula and instructional media for their classrooms. 2. To foster technical literacy in pre-service and in-service teachers in order that they may authentically address the issues their students will encounter in college and in the marketplace. 3. To empower art teachers through technology, so they become increasingly valuable resources to the educational community at large. Summary of the TAC Project The proposed project uses a well-established partnership of university and high school educators to deliver a credit-bearing course for pre-service teachers candidates. This course will provide them with hands-on computer technology experience, practice aligning curriculum goals within the state frameworks, and exposure to effective teaching practice. |
