ARTS-BASED INTERDISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM DESIGN
Special Topics: ArtsLinks/BRIDGES III A Team-Taught Curriculum Course Prerequisite: A pre-practicum component is also required at either Attleboro High School or Norton High School. This course is designed to teach you skills that will help you learn to develop, write and implement an interdisciplinary arts-infused curriculum unit for high-school students. * You will learn strategies that demonstrate ways of connecting the content areas of language arts, history, visual arts, music, theater and dance so that you can create theme-based units. You will also learn about assessments, concept generation, guiding questions, MA state frameworks and standards, arts-integration strategies, resource / technology development and varied teaching methods. * You will be taught by a team of faculty comprised of University professors, high school teachers and guest artists. The faculty for this course has worked together in prior years as curriculum teammates and they will provide you with expertise in specific content areas. The faculty will also demonstrate ways you can develop various units/lessons based upon the ArtsLinks model, a Goals 2000/Eisenhower Pre-Service and Professional Development Project. * You will be expected to create written units that apply technology as an resource tool. You will be taught how to use new web-based tools to communicate with one another and with the course instructors throughout the semester. Class meetings are face-to-face, hands-on workshops conducted in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Course credit: 3 credits SPRING SEMESTER, 2000 Day and hours of class: Tuesdays
