The 1996 Partnership/Eisenhower Project, which focuses this year on science, science-led interdisciplinary projects, and technology has six major activities involving 123 teachers:
Programs for Teachers
Field Experience Seminar Series for Earth Science Teachers
Television Production as a Teaching/Learning Tool
Publishing Students' Science Research on the Web
Using Computers Effectively in the Science Classroom
State-wide Network Projects:
BugNet: Using Insects in the Classroom
Massachusetts Directory of Eisenhower Professional Development Programs
These activities are designed to achieve five goals:
have teachers experience for themselves a constructivist, active/reflective learning environment;
have teachers strengthen their skills in using the techniques and technologies used by practicing scientists;
develop strategies for using the local community as the curriculum;
develop appropriate assessment procedures so that both teachers and their students can be active and reflective learners;
strengthen the state-wide resource networks using cost-effective technologies
