Ron Barboza
Ronald Richard Barboza was born in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A. on August 23, 1946. He received a degree in Physical Education from Morgan State College, Baltimore, Maryland in 1969. He is a teacher of Physical Education and is the director of Barika Photography and Productions.
In 1989 he published a monograph - "A Salute to Cape Verdean Musicians and their Music" - documenting the history of Cape Verdean music in America and its sources in Cabo Verde.
His photographs have appeared in numerous journals, reviews, books and publications in both the United States and abroad. He has made numerous trips to the Cape Verde Islands between 1976 and 1995 and taken more than 40,000 photographs.
