All UMD students are required to declare a major when they have accumulated 45 credit hours. Those students who have accumulated 45 or more credit hours and have not declared a major will have a hold placed on their registration. The hold will be lifted once a major has been declared. You may obtain a change of major form from the Registrar’s Office.
Each major within the college requires 27 credit hours or 9 courses. Generally, each major has 24 credits of course work within the major and a 3 credit business elective. A business elective is any 300 or 400 level course in the

General Education Requirements
Cultural and Artistic Literacy – 9 credits total must be taken. No more than 6 credits may be taken from a single department. Students select the courses from the following categories:
