The Division of Administration and Finance is responsible for managing the University's $205 million operating budget, $250 million of physical assets, and 710 acres of land while providing a safe and effective environment of learning, discovery and work for the University's 1,400 employees and 9,500 students.

Mark Preble, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance & CFO

Mark Preble is the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance & CFO at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Prior to joining UMass Dartmouth, he held several administrative leadership positions at the University of Massachusetts, most recently as Chief Human Resources Officer for the UMass system where he coordinated the full range of human resources and equal employment opportunity activities for the system’s five campuses and more than 16,500 faculty and staff.  In addition to his administrative work, he has taught Human Resources Management, Public Sector Labor Law, and Labor Negotiation and Arbitration at the undergraduate, graduate, and law school levels. From 1994 to 2002, Vice Chancellor Preble served on the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission, as staff attorney, administrative law judge, and, from 1999-2002, as commissioner.   He holds a B.A. in economics and a graduate certificate in dispute resolution from UMass Boston and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

Jeffrey Augustine, Director of Campus Services, Campus Services

Jeffrey S. Augustine was appointed Director of Campus Services in 2004, and has worked at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for 17 years in several positions. As Director of Campus Services at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, he oversees the Auxiliary operations which include Dining Services, Campus Store, Conference Office, UMass Pass Office, Parking, mailroom and print shop operations. Prior to his service at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Jeff held managerial roles in retail management. Mr. Augustine is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and earned his Masters degree in Education from Bridgewater State University.

RobertCasparius

Robert Casparius, Director, Environmental Health & Safety

Robert Casparius was appointed the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in March of 2011.  Prior to coming to UMass Dartmouth, he served as the Director at the University of Southern Maine for three years. Bob has 28 years of experience in safety and health management working in radiation, biological, laser and chemical safety. Bob is currently working to establish an Environmental Health and Safety department on campus that will develop practices and programs to ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Mr. Casparius is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono and holds a Master’s of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health Science from the City University of New York.

Derek Costa, Director for Strategic Initiatives, Administration & Finance

Derek Costa is the Director for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In this role he will lead the cross-functional projects and initiatives related to the implementation of the University's strategic and master plans. Also, he will be responsible to analyze, design and evaluate current programs, policies and procedures which encompass the development of long-term priorities and implementation strategies that support the University's mission and vision. In his prior role at the University, Derek served as the Associate Director of Campus Services since his appointment to the position 2007; having direct operational and supervisory oversight of Auxiliary Service areas. Previously, in his tenure at UMass Lowell, he served as the Associate Director of Residence Life; Housing/Building Services and as the Assistant Director of Residence Life. Derek is a two-time graduate of University of Massachusetts Lowell earning a BS is Psychology and a Master of Education Administration.

Peter Duffy

Peter Duffy, Associate Vice Chancellor, Facilities Management

Peter Duffy was appointed Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management in 2012.  In this role, he will serve as the University’s chief design and building official, providing leadership to facility operations, planning, design, construction, maintenance, custodial operations and grounds.  Prior to coming to UMass Dartmouth, Pete has had over 30 years experience in planning, design, construction and facilities operations.  The past 12 years as Vice President of Facility Operations, Construction and Support Service in New Haven, CT at the Saint Raphael Healthcare System, the 4th largest healthcare system in Connecticut.  Pete earned his BS in Civil Engineering from UMass Dartmouth.

Emil Fioravanti, Chief of Police, Public Safety 

Emil R. Fioravanti was appointed as the Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety in March of 2006 after four year tenure at Brown University Department of Public Safety as the Executive Officer.  At Brown University, his areas of responsibility included interim, chief of police, director of line operations, executive protection, liaison to student affairs and internal affairs.  Prior to his tenure at Brown, he served 26 years with the Providence Police Department serving in patrol, criminal investigations, training, and internal affairs units. The Chief is a graduate of Providence College, holds an MPA from the University of Rhode Island and an MS in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven.

Michael Hayes

Michael B. Hayes, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Master Planning | Capital Projects

Michael B. Hayes is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Master Planning | Capital Projects at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In this capacity Michael provides leadership and direction to incorporate the strategic plan into the overall campus master plan.  He oversees the Capital Planning, Design, and Construction group, coordinating our general capital planning and financing functions. Prior to joining UMass Dartmouth in 2012, he served in the Massachusetts Judiciary in several positions at the Administrative Office of the Trial Court, most recently as Chief of Construction Services for the Court Capital & Facilities Management Department.  He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University.

Deborah Majewski, Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Deborah Majewski was appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in 2014, after working for the past 8 years at UMass Dartmouth as Equal Opportunity Specialist, and for the past two and half years as Interim Assistant Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  In this role, she will serve as the University’s chief diversity official, working independently, but closely, with the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Human Resources and hiring departments to attract, recruit and retain a diverse faculty and staff.  Deb will also continue to work closely with the Diversity Council and departments across campus to ensure an accessible and inclusive campus community. Deb has over 25 years’ experience in management, employee relations/training, and dispute resolution in the federal and private sectors.  Mrs. Majewski earned her BA in Crime and Justice Studies, with a minor in Women’s Studies from UMass Dartmouth.

Marilyn Presto, Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Services, Administration & Finance

Marilyn Scudellari-Presto was appointed as the Budget Director in September 2010. Marilyn has worked in both private and public sectors in financial management; most recently in a financial management role with Charlotte County government. Prior to her five year tenure in county government, she served as a fiscal analyst with Abbott Laboratories. Ms. Presto is a graduate of Springfield College and earned an MBA at Babson College.

Carol Santos is the Chief Human Resources Officer for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She has responsibility for recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee and labor relations. Joining the University community in 2006, Carol is a graduate of Roger Williams University and possesses 25 years of human resources and management experience.
