eBilling Implemented
The Bursar's Office implemented eBilling for the Fall 2011 semester. This new functionality allows students to view, print or email their student invoices via their COIN (self service) account.
Paper invoices will be sent in addition to electronic bills for the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters. After June 30, 2012, bills for all active students will only be accessible via COIN. We continue to recommend that students log into their COIN account now to view, print, or email their student invoices in preparation for the elimination of paper invoices.
There are several benefits to eBilling:
- eBilling will reduce the amount of paper used by the Bursar's Office. We order approximately 30,000 invoices, window and return envelopes per year.
- eBilling allows for faster delivery of invoices since they are available immediately after the billing process completes on COIN.
- eBilling allows students the ability to save their invoice on their computer and send it as an attachment, via email to a parent or sponsor.
Students are sent an email notification to their UMass Dartmouth email account informing them that an invoice has been generated for them. The email message includes the amount due and the due date of the invoice. The email message also informs students of the action to be taken if payment is not made by due date indicated.
Additional functionality was added in conjunction with the implementation of the eBilling process to allow students to view all prior invoices for the academic year in COIN. This will allow students to follow their student account activities, as it relates to their invoices.
Links were also added to make available to students the explanation of the invoice letter and health insurance instructions that were previously enclosed with each paper invoice.
Our goal is to continue to identify areas that need improvement to increase customer service and office efficiencies.
