Results of the UMassD Mobile Use Survey
As part of the Mobile Computing Initiative, 513 UMass Dartmouth students, faculty and staff responded to a survey last December. The purpose of the survey was better understand how people are using Mobile devices and the applications used. The following are some of the results:
- 71.9% UMD community owns a Smart phone (iPhone,Blackberry,Android,Windows)
- Of the 71.9% smartphone users, 48.9% are undergraduates followed by staff 19.9%
- Email and Homepage are the web apps accessed via UmassD mobile
- Top requested campus mobile apps: interactive campus map, dart van location service, access to COIN, communication alerts, and grades
- Laptop still preferred mobile device at 80% with smartphone shortly behind at 71%
