of Portuguese or Lusophone African or Asian Studies


Tenure-eligible position, beginning Autumn 2008. Field of specialization open. Applicants with interest in Portuguese language literatures and cultures in a transatlantic and transcontinental context, and in comparative Luso-Hispanic studies are particularly welcome. Strong backgrund in theory and innovative work of an interdisciplinary nature
preferred. Ph.D. by time of appointment and evidence of active research program required. Commitment to excellence in teaching a broad range of courses ranging from general education to graduate seminars expected. Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese and English required. Additional knowledge of Spanish or of an African/Asian language desirable. Preliminary interviews likely at the MLA Convention.
