Description:
The College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at UMass Dartmouth continues its 2007-2008 exhibition season with Quiet Ground, Photographs from the Series: Sheep Pasture Gardens and Cloud Forest Gardens . This large-scale photography exhibition, with new work by CVPA Professor Thomas Spencer Ladd, explores the cloud forest gardens of Ecuador alongside a local community garden.

Quiet Ground will be on view October 9-25, 2007, in the CVPA Campus Gallery. There will be a closing reception on Thursday, October 25, at 6pm. In conjunction with the exhibition, Ladd will offer two lectures on October 25 at 4 and 5pm. The first lecture, Surface and Substance: Research and Visual Representation, centers on Ladds recent research in Ecuador and his future research projects; while the 5pm lecture entitled Colored Land: Analog and Digital Landscape Photography will focus on the equipment and printing methods used to create the large-scale landscapes featured in the exhibition.

Regular gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm, or by appointment. This exhibition and its reception are free of charge and open to the public.

The CVPA Campus Gallery is located on the main campus of UMass Dartmouth at 285 Old Westport Road, North Dartmouth. The gallery can be found on the first floor of the Visual and Performing Arts building. Patrons are advised to use parking lot 7.
