Sept. 14: "The King of Masks" (China, 1996) The streets of 1930s Sichuan set the stage for this award-winning film of hope and transformation in the face of poverty and loneliness. A master of an ancient art, a street performer who uses magic and masks, needs an heir to pass on his skills.
