Description: The Chancellor's Sixth Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Breakfast and Drum Major Awards will be on Friday, February 1, 2008, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Woodland Commons.

Our keynote speaker will be Donzaleigh Abernathy.

The youngest daughter of the late Civil Rights Leader Ralph Abernathy, Donzaleigh Abernathy wrote "Partners to History" as a testament to the courage, strength, and endurance of these men who stirred a nation with their moral fortitude. In "Partners to History," Abernathy chronicles this history through photographs and excerpts from speeches, sermons and journal entries from her father and Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr.

These are all very poignant and significant moments of the Civil Rights Movement, as well as American history. These events are particularly memorable for actress Donzaleigh Abernathy, who not only witnessed them but also actively participated in them as a youngster, on the front lines along with her siblings. Donzaleigh was raised with a sense of responsibility to help humanity and serve others.

Ms. Abernathy is also an accomplished actress whose credits include Don King: Only in America, Chicago Hope, Miss Evers' Boys, EZ Streets, Murder in Mississippi, and the Lifetime series "Any Day Now". She is the author of "Partners To History" and a founding member of New Road Schools, which promote cultural, racial, and economic diversity.

Immediately following the event, there will be a book signing with Ms. Abernathy.
