Description: Daily living can bring us into contact with a large number of toxic chemicals that can adversely affect our health. How can we reduce the risk? Please join us on Monday, October 19th in the Library Browsing Area for a presentation by Dr. Lynn Ruggeri on Non-Toxic Living. This engaging speaker will present:
  • Why this topic is so important to human health and to the health of our environment
  • Basic body facts about how chemicals get into the body to pose a threat to health and well-being
  • Who is most vulnerable to harmful chemicals and how we can all can benefit from safer products
  • How to identify safer ingredients and the ones to avoid
  • Inexpensive, non-toxic cleaning, safer cooking/food storage and safer plastics
  • Safer pest control and non-toxic lawn care tips
  • Summary of tips for non-toxic living
Lynn Tondat Ruggeri, Ph.D. was awarded Professor Emerita by University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2002 where she has taught and conducted research in the Department of Psychology since 1975. Her specialty area is Physiological Psychology with an emphasis on the study of the brain and behavior. Her interests are in nutrition, health and environmental toxins, ADHD, drug addiction, and immune system enhancement.

Dr. Ruggeri currently teaches Physiological Psychology and Psychopharmacology for clinical graduate students in the Dept. of Psychology. She has publications on a variety of topics including chronic health symptoms in children with ADHD. She is first author of the book Safer for Your Baby: A Guide to Living Better with Fewer Chemicals, now in its third edition.
