The Campus Store sponsors book signings throughout the academic year and also extends its regular business hours in the evenings and weekends for special events. Special events include:

Event information is distributed through email using UMDNotify and UMDAnnounce, on the UMass Dartmouth Events Page and on the Campus Store Facebook page. Also contact the UMass Campus Store at 508-999-8180, option#1 for a pre-recording of store hours and buyback dates.

Academic Regalia

Caps & Gowns: 

Academic regalia for the 2012 commencement were distributed to students:

  • Thursday, May 3rd from 9:00am-6:00pm
  • Friday, May 4th from 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Saturday, May 5th from 11:00am-2:00pm

To be on the cap & gown list, students must apply for diploma and be free from negative service indicators and financial holds, including parking tickets. Students should check their UMass Dartmouth email account for notices from the Registrar's office and check their COIN accounts for holds.

Students may designate someone else to pick up their cap & gown by sending an email, from their UMass Dartmouth email account, to chickey@umassd.edu on May 2, 2012.  In the email, please include student name, degree, student ID number, height (in ft, in) and the name of the person who will be picking up the regaila May 3rd, 4th or 5th.

Cap & Gown Make up date:  May 16, 2012, 9am-5pm.

Cap & Gown Shipping:  Students who would like their cap & gown shipped to a domestic home address ($10.00 UPS ground fee) can select this option from the Campus Store website; regalia shipping will be active at the store's website between May 7, 2012 and May 18, 2012 only.

Information about Commencement is available at the UMD Commencement page. All commencement expenses, including cap & gown, are included in the student's graduation fee (see COIN.)  Graduation gifts, diploma frames and extra tassles are available at the Campus Store.

Undergraduate Ceremony:  Sunday, May 27, 2012 (Store open 8:30am-11:30am)

Regalia for undergraduates (bachelor degree) includes cap (motorboard), gown, hood, tassel and appropriate honor cord. The gown is distributed by height and is available in extra wide upon request. The hood lining is in the school colors of blue/gold and the hood trim represents the degree. Tassels are worn on the right and then moved to the left after receiving the bachelor's degree.

The undergraduate honor cords are distributed based on the student's cumulative GPA as of December.

  • Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.800 to 4.000) - Red
  • Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.500 to 3.799) - Light Blue
  • Cum Laude (GPA 3.200 to 3.499) - White

Graduate Ceremony:  Saturday, May 26, 2012 (Store open 12:30pm-3:30pm)

Graduate (master degree) regalia includes cap (motorboard), gown, hood, and tassel (no honor cord). The master gown is longer than the bachelor and has flanged sleeves. The hood lining is in the school colors of blue/gold and the velvet hood trim represents the degree.  Tassels are worn on the left and remain on the left.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) recipients receive a longer gown with velvet stripes on the sleeve and will be "hooded" at the graduate ceremony. Juris Doctorate students wear a purple trim hood and the doctorate gown. Both doctor and juris doctor candidates wear an eight point tam (velvet hat).

Ph.D students can contact Jann Stahl, jstahl@umassd.edu about gown sizing. JD students should pre-order their gown by April 13, 2012 by using the above website link.

Faculty and Administration can rent regalia from the Campus Store.

Students can purchase class rings and graduation announcements from Balfour or Jostens.
