Computing and Information Technology Science (CITS)
CITS is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of campus operations and providing efficiency tools. Their sustainable efforts include implementing a print release system in computer labs and consolidating servers on campus to reduce paper waste and energy use, respectively.
Chartwells
Chartwells is dedicated to providing healthy and nutritious meals to the campus community, while supporting local agriculture and minimizing environmental impact of its operations.
Facilities
Facilities' efforts to improve campus sustainability include increased recycling and water showcase upgrades.
Housing and Residential Education (HRE)
HRE creates an environmentally friendly housing experience through reducing waste, promoting recycling, and programs such as the student move-out program.
Library
To minimize the impact the campus has on the environment, the library provides research assistance, instruction, and collection development services to broaden the access of information using sustainable and renewable practices.
MassPIRG
Past MassPIRG campaigns have included the bottle bill and open space recycling.
Net Impact
The students of Net Impact have produced the global reporting initiative assessing the university's sustainability scorecard since 2013.
Procurement
The purchasing department is committed to developing a comprehensive green purchasing program to save money and reduce greenhouse gasses at the same time.
Transportation
Ride-sharing programs including Zipcar and the Loop bus have helped minimize the campus' effect on the environment.
