Program Description - Ph.D. in Integrative Biology

This four to six-year program fosters the training and experience of students to become independent researchers who integrate their studies across biological subdisciplines.  Main objectives are to provide students with 1) A background spanning three broad categories (Molecular & Cellular Biology, Organismal & Developmental Biology, Ecology & Evolution); 2) Competence to synthesize ideas and tools of disparate sub-disciplines to investigate life and perform independent research, 3) Research skills that are not limited to one subfield, but may encompass the full range of modern biological techniques used across disciplines; 4) Competency in scientific communication with a focus on publication, presentation, public rhetoric, ethics, and civic engagement; 5) Preparation for professions in academia, government, and industry.
