  • Feb '16: Congratulations to Jennifer Miksis-Old (MS Biology, 2000) was awarded the  prestigous Presidential Early Career Award (PECAS). 
  • Feb '16: Congratulations to Erika Spearin (BS Biology, 2014) who was accepted into the Osteopathic Medicine Program at Liberty University, VA.
  • Dr. Paul Bourdeau (BS Biology, 1997; MS Marine Biology, 2000) started as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Humboldt State University.
  • Jennifer Rasch (BS Marine Biology 2005, MS Marine Biology 2008) recently graduated with a PhD in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
  • Rachael Bonoan (BS Biology 2013) is studying the nutritional ecology and ecological immunity of honey bees for her doctoral research at Tufts University.
  • Kerrie Belanger (BS Biology 2013) gradauted from Pharmacy School (PharmD).
  • Joseph Weaver (BS Biology 2015) will attend Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio for Fall of 2016.
  • Alex Dills (B.S. Biology 2012) joined the department as a research technician in Dr. Silby’s lab.
  • Lauren Watka (B.S. Biology 2009) graduated with a master's in Environmental Studies from Brown University in May 2012 and is currently working at the New England Aquarium as an educator.
  • Sara Turner, a 2005 Marine Biology B.S. graduate who is now a graduate student at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, published the paper “Comparison of juvenile alewife growth and movement in a large and a small watershed” in the journal Marine and Coastal Fisheries: Dynamics, Management, and Ecosystem Science.

Donations

Thank you to alumni and friends who have contributed to the UMass Dartmouth Foundation and designated the Biology Department as the recipient of the funds. We plan to use your contributions to buy much-needed laboratory equipment for our courses.
