Professor McGuire's latest book entitled Adapting to Sea Level Rise in the Coastal Zone: Law and Policy Considerations was released on March 26, 2013.
Contract for New Book Signed (February 2013)
Professor McGuire has recently signed a contract with Taylor & Francis for a third text tentatively titled, "Environmental Rights: An Exploration of U.S. Environmental Law." This text will focus on the influence of legal frameworks to environmental problems, emphasizing the relationship between the law and behavioral dynamics.
Professor McGuire has a new article published in Natural Resources & Environment. The article, entitled "Coastal Planning, Federal Consistency, and Climate Change: A Recent Divergence of Federal and State Interests", discusses the contrasting policy approaches being undertaken at the state and federal levels with respect to climate change and offshore resource development respectively, noting how these respective approaches are leading to a divergence between state and federal priorities in the marine environments. Paper presented by Professor Chad McGuire and Master of Public Policy student Jason Hill at the University of Connecticut School of Law Sea Grant conference entitled: Legal Solutions to Coastal Climate Change Adaptation in Connecticut has been published. Professor McGuire's first published academic text, Environmental Decision-Making in Context: A Toolbox has been released in print format on May 2nd.
New Article (May 2012)
Professor McGuire has a new article published in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. The article, entitled "Public Policy Frameworks in Environmental Settings: An Argument for New Policy Frameworks to Support New Policy Directions", discusses the limitations of existing policy frameworks on the ability of new information to affect policy directions and suggests that new policy frameworks should be considered, rather than relying on the manipulation of existing policy frameworks. New Article (March 2012)
Professor McGuire has a new article published in Natural Resources & Environment. The article, entitled "Systems Thinking Applied to U.S. Federal Fisheries Management", was co-written with Professor Bradley Harris, an assistant professor of marine biology in the Department of Environmental Science at Alaska Pacific University. The article provides a historical case study on the evolution of fisheries law and policy towards a systems approach and identifies areas of potential growth. To read the article, please click here.

Department of Conservation and Recreation Re-Appointment (January 2012)
