Southcoast Healthy Housing & Workplace Initiative (on-going)

SCHHWI Resident Baseline Cover CFPA is the lead evaluator for the SouthCoast Healthy Housing and Workplace Initiative (SCHHWI), a project of Voices for a Healthy Southcoast. SCHHWI seeks to improve heart and lung health in Fall River, New Bedford, and Wareham, Massachusetts by promoting smoke-free public and subsidized housing, worksites, and mental health and substance use treatment facilities. The two-year initiative is funded by the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Community Transformation Grant (CTG) and is authorized by the Affordable Care Act.

A primary task of the project is to measure smoking attitudes and behaviors among the region's public housing residents. Please click here for the baseline report.

Southcoast Health System Community Needs Assessment

Southcoast Health System CNA Cover As a community-based health delivery system, Southcoast Health System continually strives to identify the priority health needs of the community and to ensure that its services are aligned with these needs. The Community Needs Assessment achieves this goal by documenting the major demographic, socioeconomic, and health trends among Southcoast residents and by engaging the community to develop information-driven priorities and strategies that can be implemented to improve the overall health of Southcoast residents. The study documents the major demographic, socioeconomic, and health trends among Southcoast residents, with a focus on health behaviors, health disparities, and chronic disease. 

 
NB Line Shuttle Evaluation - Year 2

NB Line Cover 2013 An evaluation of the Alternative Transportation Shuttle that serves the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park (NHP), Buttonwood Park Zoo, and Fort Taber. Named the NB Line, the shuttle system connects visitors and residents to cultural and recreational destinations throughout New Bedford. The intended outcome of the shuttle implementation is to reduce visitor inconvenience, enhance visitor experience, and improve access to destinations. This report covers year 2 of the shuttle servce.

 

Great Expectations Economic Impact Analysis & Program Evaluation

Great Expectations Cover Great Expectations is part of an ongoing initiative by UMass Dartmouth PCE and its partners to revitalize Fall River’s downtown business district and its waterfront by making these areas attractive and accessible to businesses, residents, and visitors. Great Expectations is partly funded by the City of Fall River, the Fall River Office of Economic Development, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Adams Arts Program.

Great Expectations retained CFPA to conduct an economic impact analysis and visitor survey of 2012-2013 Great Expectations sponsored and supported activities.

 
New England Casino Gaming Update, 2013

NEGU 2013 Cover The 2013 New England Casino Gaming Update (NEGU) reports that Bay State gamblers continued to out-visit and out-spend Rhode Islanders at Twin River Casino in 2012. Massachusetts residents accounted for more than 51% of all visits to the casino in 2012 and spent approximately $271 million on gaming, food and beverage service, and other entertainment. Rhode Island residents accounted for 46% of all visits to Twin River and spent $241 million at the casino in 2012.

 

Bring It On Home, 4th Biennial New England Casino Gaming Behavior Survey

Bring it on home cover Bring It On Home: An Overview of the New England Gaming Market is the 4th public release of findings from the New England Gaming Behavior Survey. The study builds on data from previous Gaming Behavior Surveys to refine the analysis of the casinO and racino markets in New England.

The survey results indicate that Bay State gamblers are continuing to fuel revenue growth at Twin River by shifting more of their visits away from Foxwoods. New England residents generally (except for Maine) are gambling less, and spending their remaining gambling dollars closer to home.

Southcoast Health System Economic Impact Analysis

Southcoast hospitals cover An economic impact analysis of Southcoast Health System, the largest employer in Southeastern Massachusetts. Results show that Southcoast Health System totaled $696 million in direct operating, construction and community benefits expenditures in Massachusetts and Rhode Island in fiscal year 2011. These expenditures generated a total economic impact of $1.4 billion in output, 12,314 jobs and $747 million in labor income.

 Turners Falls RiverCulture: Experiences & Perceptions

Riverculture cover The Turners Falls RiverCulture Project is a coordinated effort of cultural programming, which has established a varied calendar of events in Turners Falls aimed at "nurturing local artists and establishing an environment that attracts businesses, residents and visitors." This program evaluation measures the perception of RiverCulture among visitors, local businesses, and creative economy organizations/participants in terms of their knowledge of RiverCulture’s mission and its effectiveness in fostering a strong creative economy in Turners Falls.
