Research Interests
Focus areas: Chemistry of biologically active natural products, mechanisms of anticancer activity and antioxidant action of flavonoids and triterpenoids; functional food factors and nutrition; isolation and structure elucidation of natural products; development of secondary metabolites in Vaccinium and Vitis species.
The Neto research group is currently involved in active collaborations with nutritional scientists and biologists at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada; plant physiologists and pathologists at Cornell University and the University of Massachusetts Cranberry Experiment Station; food scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and other UMass-Dartmouth faculty including Dr. Guo (Biochemistry) and Dr. Hart (Biology).
