April 11                                                    Telling Stories for Fun and Profit

                  Professional storyteller Tom McCabe talks about the risks and the rewards of pursuing nontraditional careers, and performs some of his favorite stories (www.tommccabe.com).


April 25, May 2 and 9                   Spotlight 3-week mini-classes

We’ll repeat some of the more popular courses from the earlier session, and add a selection of new courses, including beginner guitar lessons.


Saturday, May 4                               Field Trip to New York City

                  Explore Manhattan’s museums and shopping or visit the 9/11 Memorial with Spotlight’s experienced tour guides.  There is a nonrefundable bus fee of $30.


May 16                                   Jihad and Middle Eastern Terrorism  

UMD History Professor and terrorism expert Brian Williams traces the impact of the US and Soviet invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq on the international jihadi brotherhood known as “Al Qaeda.”  Includes video clips from Brian’s field research.


Friday, May 17                     Field Trip to Harvard University

            A $20 nonrefundable fee covers the bus trip, a tour of the Harvard campus, and lunch at the legendary Charlie’s Kitchen (www.charlieskitchen.com).
