Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). As the largest and most diverse college at UMass Dartmouth, CAS has something to offer every student. Our programs include 20 majors with multiple options as well as 17 minors. In addition to enrolling nearly half of the student population at the University, we are proud to support students in other colleges through the General Education curriculum. The breadth – and depth – of our programs provide an exciting opportunity for students to explore the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics and natural sciences and to discover their passion for learning. Opportunities abound outside of the classroom as well, with active student organizations in mathematics and philosophy, special honor societies in history and psychology, internships in political science and sociology, and many other activities.
Our faculty are dedicated teachers and cutting-edge researchers. Their commitment to engaging our students leads to intriguing undergraduate research projects, study abroad programs, and valuable internships, community service learning, and experiential learning opportunities. From science faculty exploring marine and terrestrial biology or protein engineering to humanities faculty examining the interconnections between visuality, technology, culture, and nature to social science faculty working within the community, our professors have been recognized with numerous awards for their achievements, including Fulbright scholars.
Through these many opportunities and resources, the College of Arts and Sciences endeavors to engage students in the University, the community, and the larger world beyond. Let the journey begin!
