Requirements for the Economics Minor

 

 


A minor in Economics may be elected by a student majoring in any other field.  Any degree candidate who has between 54 and 84 credits, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher in his or her major, may request admission to the Minor.

 

Before being admitted to the Economics Minor a student must obtain approval of the Economics Department Chair.  Students accepted into the Minor must complete six (6) upper division courses after being admitted to the program. 

 

Eighteen (18) credit hours are required and must include the following courses:

 

ECO231, Principles of Microeconomics (3 credits); ECO232, Principles of Macroeconomic (3 credits); and either ECO301, Intermediate Microeconomics (3 credits) or ECO311, Intermediate Macroeconomics (3 credits).  The remaining 9 credits must be selected from courses in Economics at the 300 or 400 level.  Independent study, directed study, or contract learning may not be applied toward the Minor.  Students must have, at the time of graduation, an average of at least 2.5 in all courses taken in Economics to qualify for the Minor.

 

Requirement for the Minor in Economics must be completed by graduation.  Minors may not be completed after the Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.

                             Total of 18 credits.
