Sonia Walgreen, full-time Visiting Lecturer, began teaching at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1990. She previously taught at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. Professor Walgreen received a B.A. from Regis College in 1960 and a M.A. from Boston College in 1963.

Professor Walgreen's fields of concentration include: economics of aging, economic development, and urban economics. The courses she regularly teaches are:

  • ECO 101 Contemporary Issues in Economics
  • ECO 231 Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECO 232 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ECO 331 Economics of Developing Countries
  • ECO 366 Economics of Aging
  • ECO 461 Urban Economics

In addition to her teaching duties, Professor Walgreen serves as president for the town of Mansfield's Council on Aging. She is also active in the Gerontology Center at UMD.

Professor Walgreen's areas of research focus on the economic and social issues facing the elderly.
