Certificate Requirements
Students must earn nine credits from the Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing Course List.
Students must also complete an Internship for an additional three credits. Certificate students are encouraged to intern within their current work settings on writing projects of value to their employers or clients. When applying for an Professional Writing Internship, students should follow the M.A. in Professional Writing Program Internship guidelines.

- ENL 640: Advanced Principles in Journalism
- ENL 665: Practicum in Screenwriting
- ENL 666: Practicum in Writing for Television
- ENL 690: Composition Theory
Students with at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning must submit an abbreviated application that includes:
- Current official transcript(s) from colleges or universities attended.
- A three-page statement describing the applicant's writing and professional background and goals for the program.
