Current majors can use this page, and the links found here, to find information and perform tasks relating to the major. First, a word about your status in the program.
The Liberal Arts (LAR) major (pdf) is a revision of the former Humanities/Social Sciences (HSS) major (pdf). Depending on when you declared your major, you will complete the degree requirements as shown below. Please carefully assess into which category you fall: HSS (former curriculum) or LAR (new curriculum).
Existing HSS major, Pre-Fall 2007
Because the new requirements will involve pre-requisites that you are unlikely to have time to complete, you will complete the degree using the HSS curriculum you are already pursuing. This category includes students who were admitted to the university before September 4, 2007, as well as students who transferred to the university for the Fall 2007 semester.
Accepted into the major after September 4, 2007
Whether you are new to UMass Dartmouth or an existing student filing a change of major, after September 4, 2007, you will be required to complete the LAR curriculum for graduation.
