Useful Resources for Faculty/Students

The Mathematics Department offers many online resources and documents to help students in their academic careers, including:

LaTeX stuff

  • For Windows: MiKTeX (TeX/LaTeX Distribution) + TeXnicCenter (IDE) (both are available for free)
  • For Mac: TeX Live (Tex/LaTeX Distribution) + TeXShop (IDE) = MacTeX (available for free)
  • For Linux: TeX/LaTeX Distribution is usually included in all Linux Distributions. One of many user-friendly IDEs is Kile
  • Bibliography (BibTex) reference manager: JabRef (available for free: Windows/Linux/Mac)
  • Drawing tools for LaTeX: LaTexDraw (available for free: Windows/Linux/Mac). You can't live without this software.
  • Tired of typing your BibTex or LaTex bibliography ? Search, copy, paste reference from MathSciNet. Note that you have to connect through the university network.
