Academic Backgroud
I completed my Ph. D. from the Division of Applied Mathematics of Brown University in May, 2002 under the supervision of Prof. David Gottlieb. My dissertation titled "Multi-domain spectral penalty method for hyperbolic systems : Theory and Application" won the Joukowsky Outstanding Dissertation Award. After I graduated from Brown, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia with Prof. Bernie D. Shizgal as my postdoctoral advisor from 2002 to 2005. I was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences(PIMS) from 2003 to 2005. Before then, I received my MS in Astrophysics from the Department of Astronomy of Seoul National University with Prof. Changbom Park as advisor. My Master's thesis was on the generation of the cosmic primordial magnetic fields in the early Universe.
