Professor Baum is a specialist in comparative politics. He is an Executive Board Member of the University's Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture, and co-chair of the Iberian Study Group at Harvard University's Center for European Studies. Baum is the author of Uma cultura de participação? A política do pós-Reforma Agrária no Alentejo (under contract with ICS Press, Univ. of Lisbon) and he is also editing a volume for Lexington Books, Civil Society After Democratization: Reflections on 30 Years of Portuguese Democracy.
