Professor Berggren's research and teaching interests include work-family policy, social policy, gender and politics, and gender-role attitudes. She has published her work in journals such as Political Research Quarterly, International Journal of Social Welfare, Journal of the Association for Research on Mothering, and Review of Policy Research. Her most recent article, "Problem-Based Learning and Improving Learning Outcomes in 'The Politics of Welfare Reform'" appeared in the Journal of Political Science Education. She has received several internal and external grants for one of her current projects examining the relationships among the American cohousing movement, work-family balance and political behavior.
