The Capital Semester in Washington, DC is accepting applications for Spring and Fall 2010 programs. Students applying for the Spring semester who submit their applications by October 1st will receive a 5% discount on their tuition balance. A substantial amount of scholarship funding is available and will be awarded based on financial need and merit. Rep. Niki Tongas is looking for interns for her Congressional District offices during the fall and winter. Interns will gain hands-on experience dealing with current issues and will maintain a diverse set of administrative and legislative responsibilities. Working individually and with staff, interns will gain expeirence with a broad range of projects from policy research to constituent correspondence to event planning. The town of Wareham, MA has a number of internship opportunities with town departments. Project Vote Smart is a national, non-partisan political research library. The Massachusetts Republican Party is seeking fall semester interns to work in an energetic and exciting environment. The Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States is now accepting applications for its 2009 Internship program in the summer of 2009. There may be internship possibilities in the fall as well. Some of the internship positions available this year will be at Congressional offices in Washington, DC as well as the respective home offices. Positions at the Portuguese consulates throughout the United States (note: there is a consulate in Boston) are also available. Internship responsibilities will vary from office to office. Depending on the needs of interns, housing and transportation may be covered. A $100 per week stipend is available for interns working a full-time schedule. The National Federation of Republican Women is offering the Dorothy Andrews Kabis Internship. This program offers the undergraduates the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in the nation's capital working in the headquarters of the National Federation of Republican Women. The Koch Foundation is accepting applications for its internship program. Housed in Washington, DC, this is a paid internship. Students work with non-profit organizations and gain experience in areas such as policy research and analysis and grassroots education. Spring and fall interns earn $12/hour and summer interns ear $13/hour. The Spring 2009 internship program runs from January 12 through May 1, 2009. Applications for for the Spring are due December 19, 2008. The Summer 2009 internship program runs from June 1 through August 14, 2009, and applications are due March 16, 2008. Live, Learn and Intern. This program is sponsored by the Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University. These programs are held each summer, fall and spring in Washington, DC and include programs in: Public Policy, Economics and International Affairs; Journalism and Communications; Lobbying and Government Affairs; and Nonprofit and Community Service.
