Gláucia Silva received her B.A. from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and her M.A. (in Linguistics) and Ph.D. (in Hispanic Linguistics) from the University of Iowa. She is Associate Professor in the Department of Portuguese, where she supervises and coordinates the Portuguese Language Program. Besides teaching language courses, Dr. Silva also teaches courses in Linguistics and Teaching Methodology and trains Graduate Teaching Assistants. Dr. Silva came to The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth from the Ohio State University, where she supervised several Spanish courses and directed the Portuguese Language Program, in addition to teaching Portuguese and Spanish language and linguistics. Her current research interests include anaphoric direct objects in Portuguese, heritage language learning, and collaboration between educators and students in college and K-12.
