The Department of Educational Leadership (DEL) assumes a leading role both nationally and internationally in preparing a new generation of education leaders and policy analysts, who are:
- highly prepared in educational leadership and policy studies
- ready to exercise critical transformative leadership
- deeply committed to social and cognitive justice
What we believe about education
At DEL, we believe that the field of education should:
- cultivate humanity
- promote creativity
- nurture the formation of a holistic citizen
Educational leadership should also emphasize the ability to:
- imagine the experiences of others
- think critically
- transcend local loyalties
- approach world problems

Founded in 2011, DEL advances the mission of UMass Dartmouth in its role as a catalyst for regional and global development and innovative research.
