Charlton College of Business Eportfolio

Welcome to the Charlton College of Business Eportfolio Program

All MBA students must develop and maintain an eportfolio, effective Spring 2008.

What is an eportfolio?

An eportfolio is an electronic space in which you will store and assess the work you've done in courses throughout the MBA program (documents, reports, PowerPoint presentations, etc.). But, it is more than just a filing cabinet. While your assignments are assessed in each course by a professor, the portfolio approach asks you to think about how each of these assignments and each of these courses contribute to the whole, i.e., the learning objectives that the Charlton College of Business has established for MBA students. Other disciplines, such as English, education, art, computer science, engineering, and social sciences have begun to embrace eportfolios for the same purpose.

In your eportfolio, you will review and reflect on your work, particularly as the work pertains to the MBA learning goals and to your personal goals. The reflective practices of creating portfolios enable you to

  • document and track your learning;
  • develop an integrated, coherent picture of your learning experiences; and
  • enhance your understanding of the meaning of your personal educational journey.

The process helps you plan and proceed toward your future goals, while allowing you to showcase your skills and knowledge to prospective employers, graduate schools, and others of your choosing.

The second purpose for keeping an eportfolio is that the CCB, like all AACSB-accredited colleges, is required to demonstrate meaningful evidence of their students' learning throughout the program. CCB has chosen to use the power of eportfolios to meet this requirement, as it is relatively user-friendly, not overly burdensome, and has real benefits for students learning.

The proprietary eportfolio software used at UMass Dartmouth is owned by Chalk & Wire. CCB has purchased a temporary account for you. You will have the option to purchase and continue access to the ePortfolio software from Chalk & Wire at the end of your program. During your MBA program, you will be asked to provide assessment faculty with access to your eportolio.
