Susan West Engelkemeyer-Ph.D. (Clemson University)
Dr. Susan West Engelkemeyer is the Dean of the Charlton College of Business. Prior to joining the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in January 2009, she served as Dean of the School of Business at Ithaca College for over four years. She also dedicated fourteen years to Babson College as a tenured faculty member, MBA Program Director, and director of quality for the College. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Management from Clemson University, an M.B.A. from East Carolina University, and a B.A. from Stephens College.
Engelkemeyer�s recent consulting and research interests have focused on systemic organizational change and assessment, and key performance indicators. Engelkemeyer had a seven-year consulting relationship with the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE), with primary responsibility for the Summer Academy, a team-based, project-centered event focused on strategic change initiatives for colleges and universities. She also spent six years as a senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and currently serves as a mentor for schools pursuing accreditation and on peer review teams for AACSB International.
Engelkemeyer was an entrepreneur for seven years prior to pursuing her advanced degrees. She has consulted with large manufacturing firms, partnered with a small business broker on the valuation of small, privately-held manufacturing firms, and worked with campuses on using the Baldrige framework and the implementation of assessment systems. Engelkemeyer has published in the Journal of Innovative Management, Quality Management Journal, and Quality Progress. She serves on the Board of Directors for GOAL/QPC (Salem, New Hampshire). And she is a member of the Pre-Accreditation Committee for AACSB International, the Board of Governors for the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honorary Society, and on the Board of Overseers for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
