WALTER O. EINSTEIN - Ph.D. (Syracuse University)

A Professor of management and strategy in the Charlton College of Business, he specializes in management development and teaches organizational studies and strategic management to both undergraduate and graduate students. His numerous publications and unpublished personal consulting papers center around practical applications of theory-based management skills with a principal focus on motivation, performance appraisal, and leadership.

His present research focuses on how teams differ in performance in a business simulation because of gender. Most recently he has begun work on developing a model leadership and temperament congruence by extending the expectancy model of work motivation. This research pairs managers and their subordinate direct reports and seeks to identify personality characteristics that enhance the leader-follower relationship.

In the College he takes an active service role as chairperson of the Graduate Curriculum Committee. He also serves on the college’s strategic planning committee. He has conducted seminars and workshops throughout the eastern seaboard on a wide variety of topics in applied management. His unique specialties as a professional consultant encompass leadership training and the designing of theory based, practical performance appraisal systems. Dr. Einstein has helped managers in organizations ranging from mom and pop pizza restaurants to public service agencies to major employers on the Fortune 500 list.

He holds a Systems Management Master's degree from the University of Southern California and the Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Syracuse University. Dr. Einstein retired from the United States Air Force having served as Vice Commander of the 416th Strategic Bomb Wing at Griffiss A.F.B., NY.  He lives in Dartmouth, MA with his wife, Jacqueline
