BULENT KOBU - Ph.D. (Istanbul University)

A Professor of Management in the Earle P. Charlton College of Business. He teaches courses in Production and Operations Management and in Quantitative Methods. Dr. Kobu served as a consultant to numerous private companies and state owned institutions and conducted several research projects on job evaluation, manpower planning, quality control, and other related areas.

He has published text books entitled Operations Management (9th ed. 1996), Business Mathematics Vol. I and II (5th ed. 1989), and Quality Control (2nd ed. 1989) and numerous articles in refereed and professional journals. His current research interests concern new product development process, the relationship between productivity/quality and problems of work force management in high-tech industries.

Before joining UMass Dartmouth in 1987, Prof. Kobu worked at the School of Business Administration of Istanbul University (1964-1981), and at Suffolk University (1981-1987) in Boston. He received a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University of Istanbul(1961), MS degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University (1964) and Ph.D. from the School of Business Administration of Istanbul University. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Business Administration - Istanbul University (1962).
