Jiangning Zhao - PhD

Dr. Zhao is an adjunct faculty at Department of Management, Charlton College of Business; he is also a lecturer at Pratt Institute New York. He obtained his MBA (2004) and Ph.D in Management from Maharishi University of Management (IA, USA, 2006), His dissertation topic is "The Effect of ISO-14001 Environmental Management System on Corporate Financial Performance"; Msc. in Ecological Zoology from Xinjiang Institute of Biology Chinese Academic of Science (XIBCAS, Urumqi, Xinjiang, China 1994), Post Graduate Diploma in Western Culture from Sichuan International Studies University (SISU, Chongqing, China 1996), and Bachelor in Biology from Xinjiang Agricultural University (Urumqi, Xinjiang, China, 1985).

His research interest is focused on the impacts of both organizational and social activities on the environment and natural resources, including "How does an organization design and implement an impact-oriented environmental management system to meet the needs of both present and future generations?" and "How do organizations actualize triple-bottom-line theory?"

His teaching interests include Strategic Management, Operations Management (Lean Management, Six Sigma Control), and Environmental Management.

Prior to his life in USA, Dr. Zhao was an Associate Professor at Xinjang Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Science, Urumqi, Xinjiang, China (XIBCAS 1985-1999). He was a leading researcher and a governmental consultant on ecological diversity, macro-control of natural resources, and environmental impacts assessment, and natural resources assessment. He was awarded the title of "Excellent Leading Scholar" by Personnel Ministry of China Central Government and Chinese Academy of Science (1993). In addition to many research papers on ecological conservation, he co-authored two books: (1) Guidebook of the Environment of Taklamakan Desert and the Vicinity (Xinjiang People's Publishing House & Educational and Cultural Press Ltd. Urumqi, China 1993) (2) The Proceedings of International Conference on Karez Irrigation (Xinjiang People's Publishing House & Educational and Cultural Press Ltd. Urumqi, China 1993).

Along with his research, Dr. Zhao was one of the initiators in Eco-Tour Business in China. He was the co-founder of Xinjiang Silk-Road Cultural Exploration Center (China, 1992). He is also the founder of Sharplinks China Consulting, an environmental Management and Green Education consulting firm established in Boston (2000-present).
