IBC in Germany

The International Business Certificate program in Germany is designed to give Charlton College of Business an array of potential experiences in Germany ranging from summer programs to internships in Germany.

Students are invited to participate in the program prior to the start of their first year. During the first year of classes at UMD, students take GER 101 and GER 102. In the summer of the first year, these students go to one of the International Summer University programs in the German state of Hessen for an intensive 9-credit program (
see Hessen Program Website). In this program, students continue their studies of the German language as well as take courses given in English on issues ranging from international finance to the politics of the European Union.

In their junior year, students in the International Business Certificate Program in Germany can choose to spend a semester at German partner university or spend up to 6 months as an intern in a German company (see Internship Opportunities).

Other Charlton College of Business can participate, on a space available basis, in the International Summer University programs in Hessen by successfully completing at least GER 101 (see German Language Requirement).
