Technology Support Options and Information

Instructional Development has prepared the following instructional technology suggestions as faculty begin to consider the development and communication of a course continiuity plan for their classes.

Email
Email is the official means of communication at UMass Dartmouth. Faculty members can send email to their classes by using the class rosters in COIN. For more information, visit the COIN faculty information page.

myCourses
myCourses is available for those faculty who have completed the online training. Faculty can post course materials, accept student assignments, and use various communication tools such as discussion boards, chat, and course email. Future training sessions will be announced shortly via UMD announcement.

Blog
The term "blog" is short for web log. A blog is an online journal or diary style of web page that is usually maintained by a single author or perhaps several authors whose entries are posted in chronological order. A blog can be also be used to create an online course area to post announcements, assignments, and other course related materials and information. Wiki
Wikis provide any easy means for one or many authors to quickly create web content that any one can post, edit, update or reorganize. Additionally, authors who contribute to the wiki can utilize online discussion tools related to the web content within the wiki itself. Some wiki features include; a fully editable web site, content can be organized by topic, and generally is open to all however some permissions can be enabled. Library eReserve
Library Course Reserves provides access to course-related readings and other materials selected and put on reserve by a professor. For further guidelines and information, visit Library Course Reserves at http://www.lib.umassd.edu/get/reserves.html
