Upgrade Complete

The upgrade to Vista 4 is now complete. Beginning Monday, December 31, at 8:00a.m. EST, you can access and begin to build/update your spring 08 Vista course sites at the following login address:

http://dartmouth.umassonline.net

IMPORTANT: USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS FOR ONLINE COURSES HAVE CHANGED
Login using your UMassD email account username and password, known as UMassD Logon.

Please take some time to review your course site(s) to ensure proper transitioning to the new Vista 4 environment.

Winter Intersession 08 Faculty
Faculty teaching during the winter 08 session will use the upgraded Vista 4 environment.

We appreciate your support and patience as we begin the transition to the new Vista 4 version.

Vista 4 Upgrades & Improvements

The new Vista 4 version comes with greater functionality and enhancements to many of the WebCT tools and a simplified user interface for the designer/instructor and student. Some of the new tools include blogging and journaling functionality, grading rubrics, and peer review discussions.

The new Vista 4 version provides a cleaner, more user friendly interface design with less clicks (hurray!) and a collapsible user menu to increase course design space. Faculty will also have the ability to add tools quickly to their course through the new quick start page. Additionally, this version provides built in interactive tutorials to assist new users.

Implementation Process & Schedule

Vista 4 Training sessions (on-going)	Beginning November, 2007
UMassOnline will create an archive of all courses currently on WebCT server.	December 1 , 2007
Target date for Vista 4 upgrade completion. All existing WebCT Vista 3 course sites will have been converted to the new Vista 4 version format.	December 30 , 2007 or sooner
Faculty should access their current course sites at this time to ensure their courses have transitioned properly.	January 1-25, 2007
"Go Live" target date for Vista 4 version	Winter Intersession 2008

Vista 4 Online Orientation Site

Check out the Vista 4 orientation site that highlights the new features and enhancements in Vista 4. You have access to this course as a designer/instructor, so take a look around the new and improved interface and check out the new tools. Some of the new tools include blogging and journaling functionality, grading rubrics, and peer review discussions.

Vista 4 Transition Workshops

Faculty are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming Vista 4 workshop sessions or login to the online training module that will highlight the new features and enhancements of the Vista 4 environment.

Vista 3 to Vista 4 Transtion Workshop (1 hour)
This hands-on workshop will demonstrate the new enhancements and features in Vista 4. The workshop is open to all current UMassD WebCT Vista 3 faculty who are transitioning to the new Vista 4 upgrade environment. All participants will have an opportunity to explore the new Vista 4 platform as a designer/instructor in a temporary course site.

All training sessions are 1 hour and held in Dion 109
