Connect at UMass Dartmouth (previously named Pathways) is an invitation-only, supportive learning community for first-year college students. First-year applicants may be referred to Connect from the UMassD undergraduate admissions office if their academic records did not meet the state's admissions standards or the requirements for a specific major.
During this year-long program, Connect will help you evaluate your strengths and identify the areas you would like to improve, while you earn UMass Dartmouth college credits.
Benefits of enrolling in Connect
If you decide to enroll in Connect, you will have access to academic and social resources to assist you with the transition from high school to a university setting:
- Smaller class sizes ensure personal attention
- Individual and group peer mentoring provide an excellent social support system
- Academic support through faculty advisors and the Connect Coordinator
- Free tutoring support through our Academic Resource Center
- Opportunity to experience residential living, activities, clubs, and sports
After Year 1
To successfully complete the Connect program and continue at the university, you will need to earn 24 credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2 by the end of the year.
You must achieve the specific grade point averages (GPAs) required by the major you wish to enter, and acceptance is based on availability of seats in the major.
