Alcohol & Drug Counseling Services

Counseling Center staff members are available to meet with you to discuss your concerns about your own alcohol or drug use, or concerns you might have about someone else's use of drugs or alcohol. The Counseling Center staff is also available to speak to classes or other groups on topics related to substance abuse and chemical dependence.

For interested or concerned students unsure of whether or not to make an appointment, the Counseling Center has a large self-help library with many books, pamphlets and other materials on drugs and alcohol. Counseling Center staff can also be of assistance helping students find appropriate materials for classroom presentations and papers.

As with all other mental health and medical services, alcohol and drug issues are kept completely confidential.

Mandated Substance Abuse Evaluations

If you have been referred to the Counseling Center for a substance abuse evaluation, please call or stop in to secure an appointment and let the secretaries know that you have been sent for a mandated substance abuse evaluation. You will be asked to fill out the standard Counseling Center intake information as well as a specific substance abuse history evaluation packet prior to your first meeting with your counselor. Please be aware that mandated substance referrals require the Counseling Center to communicate with the judicial body that was responsible for the referral so that we may inform them about your compliance with the program. This process, as well as other information about confidentiality, will be explained to you at the time of your first visit.

Please be aware that the Counseling Center does not conduct court-mandated drug/alcohol evaluations or counseling.
