Weekly GroupsAll groups are open to part-time and continuing education students, as well as full-time students. Where noted, groups are also open to faculty and staff. Most of our groups allow new members to join throughout the semester. Fabulous First Year Group. This support group for first year students and transfers will focus on academic success, getting connected socially, finding the right activities and organizations for you, leaving home, and figuring out UMass Dartmouth. The group meets on Mondays, 5-6:30 pm at the Counseling Center and will start on September 10, 2007. New members are welcome throughout the year. It will focus on time management, study skills, test-taking strategies, memory tricks, self-motivation techniques and remedies for test anxiety. Meets Wednesday 5-6:30 pm. Starts September 12, 2007. Many share the experience of growing up in a home where alcohol affected their lives. They may also find that as adults they share some of the same stresses and problem areas. The group will focus on identifying negative family patterns, addressing these problem patterns and helping each other to find more effective patterns.
