Accounting Intern
New Bedford Oceanarium Corp, New Bedford, MA
Student was responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts
Receivable, Monthly Accounting Reports, and Bank Reconciliation. Preparation
of monthly invoice to the State to draw down a $3 million grant. Learn
the database program, Paradigm, which the organization uses to track
all of its members and donors. Also learned Quick Books Pro for the
bookkeeping procedures.

Corning, Inc. is a Fortune 500 Company in its 150th
year of operation. It is headquartered in Corning, NY. Student worked
in the North Brookfield Complex, which concentrates in the production
of fluoride crystals for the specialty materials division. Student performed
monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Performed basic journal
voucher entries. Student assisted in the accounts payable functions,
assisted the inventory cycle of all materials, supported job cost and
budget activity as needed.

Heritage Plantation Museum Intern
Heritage Plantation of Sandwich, Inc.
Assisted staff on various projects ranging from education,
collection research and attending programs on exhibit development. Student
also assisted in exhibit preparation, collection inventory and carousel
conservation. Student also participated in the preparation of a volunteer
survey.

Veterinary Technician

Student gained a greater knowledge of types of treatments
of disease and injuries that afflict our canine and feline patients.
Student assisted with surgery, animal husbandry, education of owners,
drawing blood, performed chemical profiles, set up routine vaccine schedules,
ordered surgical supplies, medications. Cared for critically ill patients,
cared for post surgical patients.

Student worked as an assistant to the Chief of the
Human Identification Unit. Student assisted in identifying the deceased,
determined the time of death and the cause and manner of death.

Student gained experience in all aspect of tile production
including pressing tiles, preparing clay, and mixing clay, loading and
unloading kilns, as well as packing and shipping tiles.

Student was involved in building, rebuilding, repairing
and modifying computers and computer related equipment to produce adaptive
computer systems for use by individuals who are disabled.
Electronic Imaging Major

Student worked with various groups to help create a
corporate identity for their clients. Student created corporate identity,
logos, and web identity. Student sat in on meetings and helped to design
work that fulfilled clients needs. Student made posters and advertisements
for the client and designed web interfaces.
English Major Online Classroom Development Intern

Student assisted in the development of materials, agendas
and instructions for an online mathematics classroom. Student aided
with the translation of video-based distance learning mathematics courses
into Web-based, interactive medium. Student also assisted in the presentation
and marketing of the resulting programs.

Student assisted in researching and writing articles
for the organization's four publications (Coastlines, employee newsletter,
the Community Calendar; Your Health Matters, a newsletter heavily circulated
in the southcoast; and the Southcoast Health System's Annual Report.
A particular emphasis was placed on promoting the Southcoast Health
System's impending open-hear surgery capabilities to the public.
Graphic Design Major Graphic Designer Typesetter

Student acquired professional design skills by working
on Macintosh Computer using various design programs. Student worked
as part of a team to produce products such as business card, brochures,
letterheads, and envelopes. Student submitted to her faculty sponsor
a portfolio of items she designed and produced.

Student worked at various theme parks. Internship provided
student with hands on training in the real world of retailing business.
Student participated in aspects of retailing, management and marketing.
Student was responsible the particular concession that she was assigned.
Student kept track of all cash transactions and was held accountable
for any discrepancies. Student set up concession to offer the most suitable
marketing display for her customers.
Marketing Major International Business Research Intern

Student was involved in international market research
for businesses interested in entering a foreign market. Extensive research
including foreign market opportunity analysis, tariff information, US
and foreign export/import data, size of market and distributive systems
were used.
Marketing Major Advertising Intern

Student created, designed and implemented an effective
advertising campaign that was printed in the Standard Times Newspaper.
Student also assisted in the technical process of making a web page
for the company.

industry. Used multiple computer systems to research and provide accurate

socializing activities with children ages 6 and older. Student also

Student worked at a battered women shelter. Student
answered crisis line, conducted intake screenings by phone, gave out
information, support and made referrals. Conducted intake of residents,
explained shelter policies, rules and guidelines and oriented new residents
to the shelter. Maintained documentation on hotline and shelter statistics,
personal care items and other needs as appropriate.
Sociology Major/Criminal Justice Victim /Witness Advocate
Bristol County District Attorney's Office, New Bedford, MA
Student worked with victims of serious crimes. Student
provided information to victims about victim rights, notified the victim
of court dates, updated the victim of the case status, provided crisis
intervention and referrals to social service agencies, accompanied the
victim to court, and helped the victim in filing applications to obtain
victim compensation, witness fees and certain offender information.
