The Teacher Leadership Academy of MassachusettsAbout the AcademyThe Teacher Leadership Academy of Massachusetts is a statewide professional development network of Massachusetts teachers, all of whom have been recognized and honored for their exemplary classroom practice and school leadership. The purpose of the Academy is to encourage the professional growth of all members, providing a network for teacher leaders and improving teacher leadership in Massachusetts.
In keeping with the Academy's Mission, members enthusiastically share their "best practices" through presentations, workshops, institutes, and individual websites. TLA members firmly believe that students benefit from teachers who are lifelong learners themselves. Many members are Lucretia Crocker Fellows, Massachusetts Teacher of the Year winners and finalists, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teachers, Christa McAuliffe Fellows, and winners of Presidential Awards in Mathematics and Science Teaching. An elected Board of Directors plans events and activities based on the Academy’s mission. Academy members serve as a clearinghouse of teacher-initiated programs available to schools throughout the state. Academy members are committed to supporting quality professional development for teachers, with a deep understanding of how to connect good teaching with student achievement.
