Graduate study in this program is appropriate for students with a strong undergraduate background in the arts, in conjunction with substantial writing and research skills. In addition to a visual body of work, an in-depth written thesis is required. Application is better by letter and portfolio, acceptance is contingent upon a portfolio review and a personal interview.
Graduate students have access to a 45 station Macintosh computer lab which is shared by over 200 undergraduates. In addition, graduate students have access to their own "graduate studies" classroom and computer equipment. Color scanners, color and black and white laser printers, and video equipment for output to tape are available. For added convenience, color printing is done at service bureaus in the Boston and Providence area. Due to rapid changes in technology associated with this field, lab equipment is in a constant state of flux. Graduate students are encouraged to supply their own computer and upon acceptance should check with faculty as to recommendations of model and configuration.
