RACHEL PERRY WELTY

Rachel Perry Welty's body of work exposes the underlying beauty of disposable materials- transforming mundane objects found in our everyday lives in visually surprising ways. Solo exhibitions include the Barbara Krakow Gallery in Boston, the Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York City, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Welty resides in Needham, Massachusetts, and maintains a studio on Boston's Fort Point Channel. She earned a Fifth-Year Certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and is a two-time winner of the school's Traveling Scholars Award.
The lecture will take place Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 7pm, in the first-floor Conference Room at the UMass Dartmouth Professional and Continuing Education Campus. Admission to this event is free of charge and open to the public. Seating capacity is limited-guests are advised to arrive early.
The UMass Dartmouth Professional and Continuing Education Campus is located at 800 Purchase Street in downtown New Bedford. Limited street parking is available surrounding the venue.
