He has studied printmaking with S.W. Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris and, at the Centre Genevois de Gravure Contemporaine in Switzerland during 1976-77 under a grant from the government of Québec.
He teaches printmaking and alternative photographic techniques in the department of Fine Arts. He maintains a studio in New Bedford, Massachusetts where he produces work in pinhole photography, printmaking, drawing and most recently in encaustic and collage. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Canadian Art Bank, the Cabinet des Estampes in Switzerland, and several public and private collections.
The “Night Bird Series” is a group of works that was started in February 2009 as part of my sabbatical project. It is an investigation of painting with encaustic medium (wax) in combination with collaged elements from my prints. These small paintings continue to utilize pattern, geometry and architecture which is always fundamental to my work. In addition, they build on spontaneity of movement and mark-making within the multi-layered space.
